According to Statista.com, 66% of respondents believe that micro learning will establish itself as an integral part of the e-learning world. This is also confirmed by a survey conducted by Software Advice. There, almost all (95%) of survey respondents said they prefer to deliver microlearning courses because learners prefer them in their experience. And 85% of respondents said they would prefer to use their company's learning tools if the content was broken down into shorter segments.

Results scientifically proven

Science confirms that microlearning is 17 times more effective than regular, long courses (Journal of Applied Science). The completion rate of a microlearning course is also very high at 82%, according to the statistics of an international learning management provider - this indicates that the knowledge morsels are well received. A study by Personalwirtschaft magazine found that every second company in the German-speaking world now uses microlearning.

Does the topic allow microlearning?

But it must also be said that the concept of small sections cannot be applied to all learning fields: If it is a matter of complex subject content or very extensive subject areas, longer e-learning courses are more recommended. The above-mentioned study by Personalwirtschaft magazine also found that almost one-third of respondents (29%) felt that short learning sections do not work on their own, but rather as part of an overall training strategy using blended learning concepts.

Case-by-case decision

To stay with the food analogy: While many "learning snacks" can also satisfy hunger, they do not replace a full meal in every case.
