Why critical?

Critical evaluation is not a negative thing. It is about forming your own opinion in a logical and coherent way, based on evidence, to decide whether or not you can use that information.

Components of critical evaluation

Critical evaluation of information requires critical thinking. Critical thinking is about filtering out for oneself what is perceived as right or wrong. Learners learn how to do this by taking a test.

Biased information

Basically, all information is biased to some degree. Learners learn what biased information is, where it appears, and how to deal with it in this course chapter.

Fact checking tools

There are numerous fact-checking tools available. Learners explore these in interactive ways.

Time for an exercise!

At this point, there is an interactive exercise on recognizing so-called fake news.
